Dive Into Recreation:
The Saskatchewan Underwater Council promotes the benefits of recreation to youth groups and strengthening our strategic alliances with a new program call Dive Into Recreation. With this program we intend to show the youth of our province a variety of new recreational activities that they can pursue that are Scuba or snorkel related water activities that are conducted in pools, as well as traditional snorkeling and scuba activities in lakes and local waters. These activities generate great interest in our organization, and give them something new and exciting to try. The program involves going out to communities and offering them the opportunity to take part in these unique recreational activities that perhaps they could carry on later, on their own with minimal costs for them. By the Saskatchewan Underwater Council Inc. assisting them with the cost of the initial session they may generate enough interest to continue on later with their own program.
DIP (Dive In Pool):
This is a pool session generally conducted on behalf of the S.U.C. by our member clubs, where under the close supervision of an instructor, the general public are invited to come out and try Scuba diving in a safe environment. It involves 1.5 hours of lecture time and 1.5 hours of pool time to give the inexperienced a feel for what a scuba diving course is like. We would be conducting these sessions in communities throughout the province.
Dive and Dine:
A guest Speaker of world class calibre gives a presentation on Marine Biology, Marine Environmental issues, Fish Identification or Shipwrecks for an evening session(s) for divers and the general public to attend followed by a meal.
Super Diving:
This is a friendly two day series of competition aimed at bringing out more divers from all across the province. This has been a good event for us to host in the past we generally hold this event in one of the parks in the Province with clubs to help us as a co-host.
Youth Diver Program:
Through strategic alliances with Youth focused organizations the Saskatchewan Underwater Council will help to set up and conduct introductory classes to these youth organizations members in Skin and Scuba Diving by volunteer instructors. This program gives youth exercise even though they are not aware, makes youth respect the water and the activities that go along with it and take the knowledge of this seminar and related it to their day to day activities. This gives these organizations something new and educational to offer their members that in the past was not readily available to them in their area at a very reasonable cost to the participant.
