It is dive season and the first major event of the season is Definitely Diving Days at Atton’s Lake. The weekend is dedicated to diving and socializing and everyone can dive as much or as little as desired and the same with the socializing. I have attached electronic copies of the poster, the information sheet, the rules, the waiver and the registration form along with the provincially approved guidelines for diving this year with the COVID-19 looming around us. The guidelines basically say that social distancing must be maintained at all times unless the dive mask is on the face and the regulator is being used in the mouth, and that everyone on a boat must be from the same household (but that does not apply in this situation because no power boats are allowed on the lake on weekends). We will have buckets of disinfectant to clean gear and hand sanitizer to keep ourselves safe. We are suggesting reusable masks be used when zipping back sip dry suits and when helping lift gear onto your buddy. Dive buddies sharing a tarp must be from the same household. If the situation with the virus changes between now and then we may have to cancel the event but we will keep you posted as we go along.
The fees for the event are relatively low — $10 per tank of air that you use. The park admission fee and any camping fee, if you decide to camp, is not included. Lunches, beverages and snacks are a personal responsibility.
The dives will be led by divers who familiar with the lake.
Pre-registration is necessary so that we can have sufficient air on site for the event. The dead-line for registration is June 12th.
If you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at this e-mail address or at 306-480-7861.
Hope to see some of you at the event.
